As of May 31, 2001 I am beginning to evolve a number of small, stand-alone clinical tools, some to be combined into more sophisticated tools, the full set of which I hope will eventually be merged into a full-blown application for use in the NICU. I use the word "evolve" to describe this activity because I am not a "software developer." This means I shall require an environment that will encourage frequent incremental changes.
For reasons upon which I may elaborate further at a later date, I have chosen Python for my working environment (see my Python links). In a nutshell, Python appears to promote an evolutionary approach. Being new to Python, I am beginning with a small demonstration app, which I will document here in the form of a tutorial (actually just writing my thoughts down as I go).
